AmityNEW ZEALAND CHAMPION ANAHERA CAT BALLOU H: 4-1 (Int Grade B) / E: 0-0 NEWS FLASH : Best In Show at the 2009 BMDC Specialty !!!
Amity is from the the first litter of Hans & Dorli, born in November 2003. From 3 weeks old I was already in love with this dark beauty and she would up-end the puppy pile she was sleeping in to come and have a cuddle with me! To me she is the most beautiful creature I have ever seen, and I haven't had such a close bond with a dog since my first Berner, 'Otis'. She knows she is the apple of my eye, and behaves as such! Just a tad spoilt! Ami is 24" and weighs a very solid and muscley 47kg. In full coat, she looks like a bear! Her neck, shoulders and thighs are rock solid! Amity had her first litter at 2 years by the wonderful moving big boy, CH Arjan Van Blassis. She freewhelped 9 bouncing babies. Eighteen months later she freewhelped 11 pups in a linebreeding to her grandsire Can/Am/NZ/Aust CH Turi V Bernetta. In August 2007 Amity had 14 puppies from a frozen insemination using semen from Yupp V Colmberg Waldchen, a German dog living in Canada with Kiki & Pat Menegoz! She looked huge, but I never suspected there would be 14 on board! This is thought to be the largest BMD frozen semen litter ever! Amity has enormous enthusiasm for being bred naturally so we think she would have felt totally ripped off not to have the opportunity to enjoy a romance with Yupp! In 2009 Amity gave us 7 beautiful pups by Viggo. As a possible new career move as a model, she will be appearing in a new BMDCA Handbook and a full page photo at the back of the 2008 BMDCA Yearbook! At home Amity is the undisputed leader of our dogs. She has a strong personality, and takes her role of my protector and devoted companion very seriously. I love her soooo very much!
Best In Show at the 2009 Bernese Club Specialty HER CRITIQUE (JUDGE: Scott Sandford - Australia) This 6 year old bitch caught my eye as soon as she had entered the ring. For me, she was perfectly balanced and I knew right then that it was going to be hard to find something to beat her. Just the same as the Dog Challenge winner this bitch moved effortlessly around the ring reaching well out in front and following well through behind. When she had finished moving around she too slowly bounced into a perfect full square stack. She is a compact bitch of excellent breed type with very good proportions, even though she is a little thick through the middle today. Her head has excellent proportions muzzle to skull with a very good almond shaped eye of good color. She has a moderate length of neck that flows all the way to her rump. She has a very well angulated forequarter with a broad chest and strong bone. I would like to see her feet slightly rounder with more white markings. She is well ribbed and strong through the loins with an exceptional topline. Her hindquarters are strong with her stifle well bent and her hocks well let down. On the move she was broad and clean going away and steady on the return even though she did toe in slightly. Stands full square and has a calm and self confident temperament. She was exactly what I was looking for in a Bernese Mountain Dog . In her I found type, balance, soundness and strength along with a great temperament. What a wonderful bitch and a great asset to have in any breeding kennel It was a privilege to be given the opportunity to judge such an excellent example of the breed.
